Featured Story

Amanda, a German Shephard about 2 years old, was taken in by us and fostered by Nicole because she tested positive for heart worms.  Unless treated, this disease is 100% fatal, and is usually very costly to treat.  Because Amanda's health was so poor, Nicole decided to try the new treatment endorsed by the American Veterinarian Medical Association instead of the risky traditional treatment of using arsenic to kill the heartworms.  The new treatment called for just using the heartworm prevention once a month for 18 months.

We are pleased to announce that just 13 months later, Amanda is now heartworm free!  The total cost of Amanda's treatment was $86!  2 heartworm tests at $10 each and 12 months worth of Heartguard Plus at a cost of $5.50 each.

While we can't guarentee recovery after only 13 months, ANGEL Animal Rescue does endorse this method of treatment for heartworm positive dogs.  If your dog is heartworm positive and you are concerned about traditional treatment, please come talk to us or call us.  And if your dog has not been tested, please get a test right away!  Heartworms can be prevented with a simple pill or liquid medicine given just once a month.

ANGEL

Our Mission:

To educate and service the community in order to provide a safe haven for all animals.

Welcome to our home page!

As many of you are already aware, Dr. Greene was driving 3 hours to work for us at our clinic.  He was offered a full time job just 4 miles from his home.  At this time, we are looking for a new vet, and discussing our options with the Board of Directors on how we can be open full time.  Please feel free to continue to call us or visit us as we consult with other vets frequently.

We look forward to being able to serve our client's needs better and have more hours with which to serve.

As soon as we get a litter of kittens in, they get adopted so we are unable to get pictures up.  Feel free to stop in or call to see what is available. Thank you too all of you who have given new homes to these precious animals!

High Call Volume

We have received several complaints about how difficult it is to get a hold of us by phone.  ANGEL Animal Rescue receives over 100 call each day (including Sundays!), more on clinic days.  Every person at ANGEL is a volunteer and we all try to answer each and every call, and we try to return every missed call and answer every message. But it is impossible with that many calls.  We appreciate your patience while we work to come up with a new system to answer calls.  In the mean time, email is a good way to reach us.

Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions:

1) Our shelter is full.  Although we are a rescue shelter, we have no openings for cats & no available foster homes for dogs.  If you are interested in being a foster home, please stop by to fill out an application and review our policies & procedures.  If you are looking for a new home for your cat or dog, unfortunately we do not know of anyplace in the area that is a "NO-KILL" or "NO-SELL for Research" facility.

2) Although we do not currently have a vet, we will soon.  In the meantime, we have a list of clients who are waiting to be put on the surgical schedule.  You can complete a registration form on-line.

3) We are currently open Tues & Thurs 9am - 5 pm.  Please feel free to stop in & visit us!

Thank you for your patience as we go through our growing process!

Donation Item of the Month!

NOVEMBER is FOOD month.  As we celebrate all the things we are thankful for, ANGEL Animal Rescue wants to thank all of their supporters, donors, clients, and volunteers. This month's donation items is food.  Any kind of pet food is greatly appreciated, along with baby food (expired is OK), canned people meats.  We are also looking for a couple turkeys to be donated so we can spoil the animals at the shelter with a special thanksgiving dinner.  Enjoy your Thanksgiving feasts!
